Icelandic Sheepdogs
ABOUT OUR DOGS:
Snotra and Spurdann are both exceptional examples of the FCI Standard for the Icelandic Sheepdog. They compliment each other very well. Snotra is quiet and laidback, but at the same time very alert and joyful. Spurðann is the happy go lucky one; who is rambunctious, fun loving and is an alpha male. Both are loving and wonderful companions. Snotra snuggled with me from the beginning. However Spurdann, having come from a working farm took longer to learn to enjoy the couch. Once he got the hang of it, however, he is a wonderful snuggler and love bug, checking in regularly for a pet or snuggle if it has been too long. Spurdanns' personality is well suited for herding and working. He is very athletic, alert and loyal. His strongest characteristic is his intelligence, typical of the breed. Snotra is the type of dog that you would want to babysit your children as she is loving and attentive, always wanting to please. PRESERVING THE RARE LINES AND OTHER BREEDING CONSIDERATIONS: Snotra is from the rare M1/M2 family line of the Icelandic Sheepdog that is important to support and propagate. Breeders in Iceland helped me find a stud that would be appropriate to breed her to. With a pied coat, I did not want to breed her to another pied and have white puppies as this is not acceptable to the standard. I also wanted a long haired dog with typical Icelandic Sheepdog features. Spurdann was the chosen one. I am very happy with him and believe that these two will produce beautiful long haired puppies that will be well within the FCI standard. OUR HEALTHY DOGS: Our dogs have passed annual CERF tests and their PennHIP scores are posted on the pedigree page. We are proud participants and support the ISAA's CHIC Health Program and follow the breeding standards of the club. If you are interested in finding out more about our upcoming litter, please request a litter application and we will send it to you. We look forward to hearing from you.
